Services set for GSU student who drowned

Funeral services were announced today for a Grambling State University student who drowned over the weekend. Orlando Carter, 21, of Lake Providence, reportedly died Friday after drowning in an off-campus swimming pool, according to a dispatcher with GSU police. The dispatcher said she was not sure where the drowning took place. 

Visitation for Carter is from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Brannum Funeral Home in Lake Providence. The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Sunday at the Lake Providence Junior High School Auditorium.  

IT HAS BEEN STATED BY SOURCES THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO THE NEWSSTAR NEWSPAPER THAT THE STUDENT WAS LIVING OFF CAMPUS IN A HOTEL IN RUSTON SINCE HIS DORM ROOM WAS NOT READY. THESE SOURCES HAVE NOT BEEN CONFIRMED.
